Your download of Redacted Browser for Mac is starting. The steps below get you through the first launch. If nothing downloads, use the button below.
Redacted-Browser-0.9.0-alpha.13.4.15-mac-arm64.dmg · SHA-256 8d4ead4d4da11b3ae2ba69b282d037728c6ba238fd8ac951cb7042eef9eabca4
Install in three steps
- 1Open the disk image and drag Redacted Browser into Applications.
- 2Open it from Applications, not from the disk image. If macOS says the app cannot be verified, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down and choose Open Anyway. If it says the app is damaged and can't be opened, check the download's SHA-256 below before proceeding. This early-access app is not Apple-notarized; the warning alone does not identify the cause. If the checksum matches, use the installation command below, then open the app again.
- 3Create your workspace (or sign in), add a profile, choose a device and press Launch. Your Mac profiles open here; each persona's Windows profile opens on a Windows PC.
The one Terminal line (for “damaged”)
macOS quarantines every file inside a downloaded app. Removing that flag once lets the app and its browser engine open; it changes nothing else on your Mac. Open Terminal (Applications → Utilities), paste this, press Return, then open Redacted Browser from Applications:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Redacted Browser.app"
Check the download
Open Terminal, paste this line and press Return. The long number it prints must equal the SHA-256 above.
shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/Redacted-Browser-0.9.0-alpha.13.4.15-mac-arm64.dmg
Known issue on macOS 27: Stop & sync can refuse to save if the browser takes too long to close. A refusal is not a completed cloud save. Keep the profile and its local files and follow the app's recovery guidance.

Download Redacted Browser for Windows
One installer with the profile manager and the hardened Chromium 155 engine inside. A persona gets a Mac profile and a Windows profile as siblings on one proxy, and each opens only on its own operating system. Windows currently opens profiles on PCs with NVIDIA graphics; Intel and AMD graphics come in a later release.
- Requires
- Windows 11 (64-bit)
- Processor
- Intel or AMD, 64-bit
- Graphics
- NVIDIA
- Size
- 259 MB
Redacted-Browser-Setup-0.9.0-alpha.13.4.15-x64.exe · SHA-256 0b7f9f555762763be48064140e8b3fde458d0b9e7dc2a11c40c024a2eb98b8e8
Video privacy limitation: In alpha 13.3, profiles assigned NVIDIA GTX 1650, RTX 3060 or RTX 4060 devices could expose video capabilities that differ from the assigned graphics card. This known limitation from 13.3 may still apply to this release.
Early-access Windows builds are not yet code-signed. The installer is intact when its SHA-256 matches the one on this page.
What changed in 0.9.0-alpha.13.4.15
- A new build of the browser engine: a profile now opens on a PC whose real graphics card is from another maker than its device's card. A PC with no real graphics card, such as a virtual machine, is still refused.
- Live connections (WebSockets) now go through the browser's proxy in our tests. In our test, they opened through the browser's proxy from a page and from its workers, and none went around the proxy.
- The Fix list shows every proxy: the good fits first, then every other proxy under Other proxies, with its grade.
- A proxy's place now shows its city, state or province, and country. If the city or the state or province isn't known, the place shows the parts that are. The state or province is never guessed.
- Each profile has a Proxy history of the proxies and exit addresses this computer saw it use, newest first. It can be exported with every exit address masked. A profile no longer in your list keeps its history, under Settings.
- A profile's browsing data saved by an earlier Windows version does not carry over: the profile opens fresh the first time, and any old copy on that computer is set aside, not deleted.
Install in three steps
Updating an existing installation: If alpha 13.4.3 offers this update itself, choose Restart and install when it appears, and let it run until Stop & sync has saved every open profile. If you started Redacted Browser as administrator, close it and open it the normal way first. From an earlier version, or instead of the in-app update, finish Stop & sync and confirm it succeeds, quit the app, then download and run this installer for your existing Windows account; it is installed manually. A profile's browsing data saved by an earlier Windows version does not carry over: the profile opens fresh the first time this version opens it, and any old copy on that computer is set aside, not deleted.
- 1Run the installer. It installs for your Windows account only and needs no administrator. If you choose Run as administrator, it stops and asks you to run it normally.
- 2Windows shows “Windows protected your PC” once, because this early-access build is not yet signed with our company certificate, so it names the publisher as Unknown publisher. Check the SHA-256 above, then click More info, then Run anyway.
- 3Open Redacted Browser from the Start menu and sign in once with your email and password, or create your workspace. Your Windows profiles open here; each persona's Mac profile opens on your Mac.
Check the download
To check the download, open PowerShell (Start, type PowerShell, press Enter), paste this line and press Enter. The long number it prints must equal the SHA-256 above.
Get-FileHash "$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads\Redacted-Browser-Setup-0.9.0-alpha.13.4.15-x64.exe" -Algorithm SHA256
If Windows blocks it, or to uninstall
If Windows says instead that Smart App Control blocked the installer, that PC runs only apps it can verify, so this early build cannot be installed there yet. Leave your address below and we will email you when the signed build is out.
Uninstalling from Settings → Apps keeps your profiles in %LOCALAPPDATA%\RB. Delete that folder yourself to remove them from the PC.
First launch
Is the warning safe to click through?
Early-access builds are not yet signed with our company certificate, so your computer asks once. Here is what each message means.
macOS says the app cannot be verified, or that it is damaged. Is it safe?
Early-access builds are not yet notarized with Apple, so macOS shows one of those two messages for any download; the file itself is intact when its SHA-256 matches the one on the download page. For 'cannot be verified', open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway next to Redacted Browser. For 'damaged', paste the one Terminal line from the download page once, then open the app from Applications.
